Corn Dolly

2018-2020

In pre-Christian Europe, it was believed the spirit of the wheat lived amongst the crop. At harvest time, corn dollies were braided from the last of the crop, to give the spirit a home for the winter. When spring came, the corn dolly was ploughed into the first furrow of the new season.
