After the exhibition Nature. Traces & Reflections at CLAY, the museum acquired two of my artwork from the exhibition Kelp Man and Sea Mirror. Kelp Man is on permanent display as part of The Magic of Ceramics at CLAY.
Kelp Man (2028) was made during my AIR stay at Victoria & Albert Museum in 2018 and was part of the installation I made at Medieval and Renaissance Galleries på Victoria & Albert Museum during London Design Festival 2018 as a part of the installation Black Celebration and Sea Mirror (2022) for the exhibition at CLAY.
Translated from Danish (CLAY Nyt no 6):
To everyone's delight, the collection at CLAY has become even richer.
With solid support from CLAY Friends, the museum has acquired two key works by the internationally renowned ceramicist Malene Hartmann Rasmussen. The newly acquired works, Tang Manden (Kelp Man) and Hav Spejl (Sea Mirror), could already be seen by visitors to CLAY at the special exhibition, Natur. Spor & Spejlinger (Nature. Traces & Reflections) in 2021-22. Here, they attracted a great deal of attention and demonstrated Malene's original visual language, both technically and artistically. It is therefore a great pleasure that, with the generous support of CLAY Friends,
we can now ensure Malene Hartmann Rasmussen a worthy representation in the collection at CLAY. With the incorporation of two enigmatic and beautiful works, which, in relation to each
individual viewer, hold secrets and endless
reflections.
